Frequently Asked Questions

Q) What are the Easton Forest Estate properties currently zoned at?
A) The properties are currently zoned as Commercial Forest Land:80. Commercial Forestland 80 is one residence per 80 acres..

Q) Can I build a second residence on the property?
A) Yes, with a conditional use permit (CUP) anyone can build a second house or manufactured home on their property. For more information on building a second home or residence, please visit Title 17 of the Kittitas County Code found at http://co.kittitas.wa.us/boc/countycode/title17.asp#17.08.022 For permit applications, visit http://co.kittitas.wa.us/cds/forms.asp

Q) Can I go through a re-zone process? If so, what does the process entail?
A) Yes, the process of changing from one land used designation to another happens once a year during the annual comprehensive plan updates. The county receives only a handful of these applications per year. If approved, basically converting from commercial forest to rural, you would still need to go through the rezone application process which takes roughly six months. Applications can be found under forms within the CDS section of the Kittitas County home page at http://co.kittitas.wa.us/cds/forms.asp
